By the end of the first year, each student is expected to have agreed with the Scientific Commitee the topic of his/her thesis. Academic members will discuss and agree the project for the thesis with members of the companies that support specific students. During the first year of activity regular meetings will propose open problem between which the other students will choose their subject of interest. 

It is highly recommended to use LaTex to typeset the thesis. The suggested template is available for download here.

Plan the following steps well in advance of the scheduled date of discussion so as to allow the administrative offices to constitute the process required by law:

1) the PhD advisor, following the provisions of the PhD student's cotutorship agreement/convention, shall agree on the composition of the Final Examination Committee jointly with the PhD co-advisor of the foreign partner university;

2) the PhD advisor must notify the PhD coordinator the names of all the members of the Commission (Italian and foreign) agreed upon;

3) the PhD Boarding, through the coordinator, must deliberate on the composition of the Commission and transmit the delibaration to the Ph.D. Area in order to issue the Rectoral Decree of composition of the Commission that must be submitted to the Rector for signature;

4) the PhD advisor must ensure that his or her foreign counterpart has gone through the process of appointing the Commission with their own offices;

5) after the final examination, by the next day, the Final Examination Commission must transmit a copy of the minutes to the Doctoral Area for the closure of the doctoral student's career.

If applicable, it is requested that the minutes of the foreign partner university (if any) also be forwarded.

The above steps are necessary so that both institutions involved in the stipulated agreement can simultaneously align with the bureaucratic timelines aimed at the discussion of the doctoral student's thesis, which are essential for the issuance of the double degree.
